A visual rebuild of a Los Angeles news site, and the AI newsroom behind it: one system that runs the desk from the first tip to the subscriber’s inbox.

(Brief)

A small team had to look like a major paper and work like one: dozens of stories a day, sources to check, a newsletter to send.

(Solution)

Rebuild the front page as a calm broadsheet, then build an AI newsroom underneath, so every desk job runs through one system with an editor signing off.

(01) — Typography

Display

Playfair Display Black

Weight 900 · promos and newsletter calls

A serif you can read for twenty minutes, a sans that stays out of the way, and one heavy display face for the moments that sell. The blackletter masthead is a drawn wordmark, not a font.

(03) — AI newsroom

An AI newsroom, end to end

Behind the front page sits one AI system that does the work of a whole desk: it collects, checks, drafts, publishes and sends. An editor still signs off on what goes out.

Every claim is checked against independent sources across platforms before it moves on.
